The ABB AI810 analog input module handles short circuits to the transmitter supply at least 30 V d.c. without harm, thanks to a PTC resistor that limits current. This resilience minimizes downtime and protects downstream equipment.

Part of the ABB S800 family, the AI810 provides eight unipolar single-ended channels. Each channel supports 0...20 mA, 4...20 mA, 0...10 V, or 2...10 V d.c. signals. The module offers 12-bit resolution and groupwise isolation from ground, ensuring accurate data transmission even in electrically noisy environments.

Technical Specifications and Performance

The AI810 delivers a maximum error of 0.1%, with temperature drift as low as 50 ppm/°C for current inputs. Its input filter has a rise time of 0-90% in 140 ms, and the update cycle time is 8 ms. These specs make it suitable for applications requiring fast and precise signal acquisition.

For voltage inputs, the input impedance is 290 kΩ, while current inputs present 250 Ω (including the PTC). The module withstands over or undervoltage of at least 30 V d.c. on voltage inputs. It also supports HART communication, enabling integration with smart field devices.

The AI810 works with ABB MTUs including TU810, TU812, TU814, TU818, TU830, TU833, TU835, TU838, and TU850. It also pairs with the TU810V1 MTU. This compatibility allows seamless integration into existing ABB automation architectures.

The module consumes 70 mA from the +5 V Modulebus and 40 mA from the +24 V Modulebus, with no external +24 V consumption. Its power dissipation is 1.5 W, making it energy-efficient for multi-module racks.
