First, ensure the SLC 500 chassis power is off. Then, align the module with a free slot in the rack. Slide the 1746-OB32E firmly into the backplane connector. Secure it using the top and bottom mounting screws. The module works in both fixed and modular SLC 500 hardware styles.

Next, prepare your field wiring. The terminal block features a self-lifting plate. This plate accepts up to two 14 AWG (2 mm²) wires each. Connect the 24VDC power supply to the module’s common terminals. The module has two groups of sixteen points each. Wire your output devices, like solenoids or contactors, to the appropriate output terminals. Remember that this module lacks reverse polarity protection. Always verify your wiring polarity before applying power. Use an external fuse for additional circuit protection. The internal electronic protection is not a substitute for a proper fuse.
