Allen-Bradley 1762-IR4 4-Channel RTD Input Module
The Allen-Bradley 1762-IR4 is a four-channel RTD and resistance input module for MicroLogix controllers. This module provides precise temperature measurement for demanding industrial applications. It supports a wide variety of sensor types and wiring configurations. Engineers trust this module for its accuracy and reliability. The 1762-IR4 seamlessly integrates with MicroLogix 1100, 1200, and 1400 systems.
Expert Technical Evaluation & Performance Review
This module uses a Delta-Sigma converter for high-resolution analog data conversion. The resolution depends on the selected input filter configuration. You can choose filters at 10 Hz, 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, or 1 kHz. A 1 kHz filter on a single channel delivers the fastest update time. Using a 10 Hz filter on all six channels produces the slowest update time.
The module auto-calibrates when you enable a channel. You can also program it to calibrate every five minutes. Increasing autocalibration and lead wire compensation cycles will increase the module update time. This module processes data using six input words and five configuration words. You must configure operation details for each channel after installation.

This module performs both module and channel diagnostics. A single diagnostic LED indicates status and power. This LED helps you quickly identify the source of any problem. The module dissipates only 1.5 Watts of heat. This low heat output requires minimal mounting space.
Step-by-Step User & Installation Guide
Install the module in a non-hazardous, dry, and clean environment. Keep the unit away from electrical noise and heat sources. You can mount the module on a DIN rail or a panel. The module dimensions are 90 x 87 x 40 mm.

Connect the module to 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire RTDs. You can also connect 2-wire or 3-wire resistance devices. The module supports platinum, nickel, copper, and nickel-iron sensors. It accepts resistance ranges from 0 to 150 ohms up to 0 to 3000 ohms.
Wire safety circuits in series to the master relay. Always stand away from the equipment during troubleshooting. Check for any program changes before you begin work. A finger-safe cover protects the input terminal blocks. The module receives 5V and 24V DC power via the 1762 bus interface.
This module formats data as raw/proportional, engineering units x1, engineering units x10, scaled-for-PID, or percent full scale. Use these formats to match your control system requirements. The module supports 100 ohm Platinum 385, 200 ohm Platinum 385, 500 ohm Platinum 385, and 1000 ohm Platinum 385 RTDs. It also supports 10 ohm Copper 426, 120 ohm Nickel 672, and 604 ohm Nickel-Iron 518 sensors.
