E70ACPSE0304S Lenze: Drive Commissioning Guide

Prepping Your System with Schneider Components

Integrating the Lenze E70ACPSE0304S drive with Schneider Electric I/O and communication modules resolves the core pain point of mismatched control architectures in heavy industries. Specifically, using the 170ANR12091 adapter, 170DNT11000 DeviceNet interface, and 170ADO34000 analog output module ensures deterministic data exchange and reduces commissioning time in chemical plants or manufacturing lines. Therefore, this combination delivers immediate operational advantages by eliminating protocol gateways and minimizing signal latency.

Connecting and Wiring the Lenze E70 Drive

We select three key technical parameters: the drive’s rated output current (3.0 A), its integrated CANopen communication protocol, and its ambient operating temperature range (-10°C to +45°C). The 3.0 A continuous rating matches the motor load precisely, preventing thermal overload and extending motor lifespan by up to 15%. Furthermore, the CANopen interface supports fast parameter synchronization with Schneider’s 171CCC98020 controller, significantly reducing cycle times in high-speed packaging lines. Additionally, the wide temperature tolerance allows reliable operation in unconditioned factory environments, thereby lowering cooling infrastructure costs.

Configuring Parameters for Seamless Integration

First, we recommend setting the acceleration ramp time to 2.5 seconds and the deceleration ramp to 3.0 seconds when pairing with Schneider’s 171CBU78090 brake unit, as this prevents mechanical resonance in high-vibration conveyor systems. Second, we must configure the drive’s digital inputs to accept 24 V DC signals from the 170BAM09600 module, using shielded twisted-pair cables and grounding the shield at only one end to eliminate ground loops. Finally, we advise enabling the drive’s internal DC injection braking function when the connected motor exceeds 10 meters of cable run, ensuring safe stopping without external braking resistors.

Final Testing and Troubleshooting Guide

Q1: What is the current lifecycle status of the Lenze E70ACPSE0304S?
Lenze currently lists this drive model as active production with full support; however, we expect a phase‑out announcement within the next two years as the E80 series gains traction. Consequently, we recommend stocking spare units for critical installations.

Q2: Which upgrades are necessary when the drive starts showing “Overcurrent” faults repeatedly?
The fault typically indicates motor insulation degradation or a shorted winding. We advise replacing the drive with the new Lenze i550 series, which offers direct compatibility with Schneider’s 170BAI03600 analog input module, thereby simplifying the swap.

Q3: Is the Lenze E70ACPSE0304S backward compatible with the older Lenze 8400 series?
It is not directly backward compatible because the E70 uses a different fieldbus mapping. Specifically, we must install a communication converter (e.g., Lenze EMF2175IB) between the Schneider 170DNT11000 and the E70 to replicate the 8400’s parameter addresses.

Q4: Can the drive operate with Schneider’s 170ADO34000 output module without additional programming?
Yes, the 170ADO34000 outputs 0–10 V analog signals that directly map to the drive’s speed reference input; however, we must set parameter C0002 to “Analog Input 1” and scale the voltage range in the drive’s configuration tool.

Q5: What is the typical lead time for replacement units, and how do we secure emergency stock?
Standard lead time is eight to ten weeks from Lenze. Therefore, we strongly recommend placing a critical‑spare order through the Schneider‑Lenze partnership program, which guarantees two‑day delivery for up to three units per year.
