The ICS Triplex T8312 Expander Interface Adapter is a critical component for expanding the capabilities of your Trusted TMR system. This module provides the essential physical and electrical link between the controller chassis and up to seven expander chassis. Designed for high-availability industrial environments, the T8312 ensures seamless data transfer and system scalability. Its robust construction and fault-tolerant architecture make it an ideal choice for demanding process control applications requiring maximum uptime.

Core Technical Specifications & Parameters

The T8312 Expander Interface Adapter is engineered to facilitate robust communication within a Trusted system. It connects expander interface modules in the controller chassis to processor interface modules in the expander chassis. The adapter is available in two configurations: the T8312/4, which supports up to four expander chassis, and the T8312/7, which supports up to seven. The unit requires a specific DIP switch setup for proper chassis identification. The controller chassis ID must be set to 1, while expander chassis IDs are set from 2 to 8. For systems requiring more than seven chassis, a second adapter is used with IDs set from 2 to 8, which are then designated as 9 to 15 in the system software. The T8312 has a gross weight of 0.65 kg (1.43 lbs) and requires software configuration for full integration. It holds certifications for Ordinary, Hazardous Location, ATEX, and IECEx environments.

Professional Installation & Wiring Guidelines

Begin the installation by ensuring the controller chassis is powered down and isolated. Mount the T8312 adapter into the designated slot within the controller chassis. Configure the DIP switches on the adapter to set the correct chassis ID, ensuring the controller is set to 1 and expanders are set sequentially from 2 to 8. Connect the TC-301 hot link cable from the T8312 to the T8310 Expander Processor in the expander chassis. Verify all connections are secure and the cable is properly routed to avoid interference. After installation, power up the system and verify the LED indicators on the T8312 show a healthy status. Finally, configure the system software to recognize the new expander chassis and their assigned IDs.
