Specifically, it replaces multi-vendor signal conditioners in Oil & Gas, Chemical, and Power Plant environments. In these settings, voltage drops or ground loops often distort 4‑20 mA loops. Consequently, operators gain cleaner data for PID control loops. This also reduces unscheduled downtime caused by faulty field wiring.
Key Features of the 170ANR12091 Module
The module’s 16‑bit resolution ensures that a 0.1% span change in a pressure transmitter becomes immediately visible to the controller. This improves loop tuning accuracy by up to 40% in refining applications. Furthermore, its galvanic isolation (1500 Vrms between channels and backplane) eliminates ground-loop interference. This extends the lifespan of adjacent electronics in high‑voltage switchgear rooms. Additionally, the 170ANR12091 supports the Modbus Plus protocol directly. This reduces wiring costs by up to 30% compared to using separate serial adapters.
How to Install the 170ANR12091 Correctly
  1. First, always use shielded twisted‑pair cable for each analog input and bond the shield only at the transmitter side.
  2. In high‑vibration environments (e.g., compressor stations), secure the cable bundle with metal clamps every 30 cm. Also, apply a 2 Nm torque to the terminal screws.
  3. Second, verify that the 24 VDC power source supplies at least 400 mA of inrush capacity. Otherwise, add an external surge suppressor (e.g., Schneider’s 490NTR series) on the field power line.
