The Allen-Bradley 1734-IB8S is a compact POINT I/O Guard I/O safety module. It provides eight current sinking input channels and four pulse test outputs. This module operates on a nominal 24VDC supply. It supports Safety Integrity Level (SIL) requirements in critical applications. Use it with emergency stops, gate switches, and light curtains.

This module delivers robust performance for safety-rated systems. It supports dual-channel mode for evaluating two input signals. This feature enables use in Safety Category 3 and 4 applications. The 1734-IB8S also supports single-channel mode for Category 2. You can configure the discrepancy time for two channels. This setting determines the acceptable time difference before a fault. The module performs an external wiring short check. This check activates when you wire inputs with test outputs. Each channel has individually adjustable ON and OFF signal delays. These delays prevent false readings from signal fluctuation. The reaction time per channel is 16.2 milliseconds. This speed ensures fast response to safety events. The module works with SmartGuard, GuardLogix, and Compact GuardLogix controllers. It administers CIP safety protocol extensions on POINT I/O platforms. Mount the module horizontally or vertically on a DIN rail. Use either the 1734-TOP or 1734-TB terminal base. Set the key switch to position 8 on the left. Set the right key switch to position 1. Connect the 24VDC supply voltage to the module. The operating range is 19.2 to 28.8 Volts DC. Wire your safety devices to the eight current sinking inputs. Connect the four pulse test outputs to your devices. This wiring enables the external short check function. Configure the module for single or dual-channel mode. Set the discrepancy time for dual-channel applications. Adjust the ON and OFF signal delays for each channel. Use a 1734-AENT or 1734-PDN adapter for network communication.
