The 1747-L551 SLC 5/05 processor delivers powerful control for demanding industrial applications. This module manages up to 4096 discrete inputs and 4096 discrete outputs. It also supports up to 480 analog I/O points for precise process control. The processor integrates a built-in Ethernet port for high-speed network communication. An RS-232 port enables flexible peer-to-peer connectivity with various DF1 protocols. This controller provides a robust platform for complex automation tasks.

The 1747-L551 processor operates with a program scan time of just 0.9 milliseconds per kilobyte. This speed ensures rapid execution of complex control logic for critical processes. The typical I/O scan time reaches only 0.225 milliseconds for fast system response. Its 16,000-word user memory supports substantial program development and data storage. The unit requires installation exclusively in Slot Zero of the SLC 500 chassis.

The module includes advanced math instructions for sophisticated calculation tasks. It also supports indirect addressing for flexible and efficient programming methods. The built-in real-time clock enables precise time-stamping for data logging. Runtime editing allows program modifications without stopping the entire production line. This feature minimizes downtime during debugging or optimization procedures.

The controller supports multiple communication protocols for versatile system integration. It handles Ethernet, Remote I/O (RIO), DH485, and Data Highway Plus (DH+) networks. Channel-to-channel communication allows data exchange between different network segments. DeviceNet pass-thru capability simplifies configuration of connected field devices. The RS-232 channel supports DF1 full duplex and half-duplex master modes.

Environmental tolerance ensures reliable operation in harsh industrial settings. The unit operates within a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius. It withstands operating shock up to 30G for three pulses of 11 milliseconds. The module resists operating vibration of 2.5G at frequencies from 5 to 2000 Hertz. Relative humidity tolerance spans from 5 to 95 percent without condensation issues.

The processor uses battery-backed CMOS RAM to preserve program data during power loss. An optional 1747-M13 memory module provides up to 64K of backup memory capacity. The 1747-BA battery maintains memory integrity during extended power outages. LED indicators display critical status information for immediate operator awareness. These lights show run status, CPU faults, low battery, forced I/O, and port activity.
