This controller uses a sink/source topology for its input wiring. The sensor supply has a COM internally connected to chassis ground. You must only use this supply for input devices like switches. Inputs 0 through 3 require a minimum on-state current of 2.5 mA. Their nominal current is 7.3 mA at 24 Volts DC. These inputs operate at a maximum frequency of 20 Hertz. Inputs 4 and above need a minimum of 2 mA. Their nominal current is 8.9 mA at 24 Volts DC. These fast inputs operate from 0 Hz up to 1k Hertz. The off-state voltage range is 0 to 5 Volts DC.

First, mount the 1762-L24BWAR securely on a DIN rail. Ensure the enclosure has adequate airflow for cooling. Connect the 120-240V AC input power to the designated terminals. Verify the voltage source is within the specified range. Use a dedicated circuit breaker for protection.

Next, wire your input devices to the ten 24V DC terminals. Connect the four fast inputs to high-speed sensors or encoders. Ensure wiring polarity matches your sink or source configuration. Use the internal sensor supply for these input devices only. Do not connect output circuits to this supply.

Then, connect your load devices to the ten relay output terminals. Ensure your load current does not exceed relay ratings. The controller handles switching for inductive and resistive loads. Wire the external power supply separately for the output circuits. This prevents ground loop issues with the sensor supply.

Finally, configure the RS-232 port for your HMI or programmer. Use a standard serial cable for the connection. Set your software for DH Full-duplex communication. You cannot change the port settings on the controller itself. This setup provides a reliable link for programming.
