Allen-Bradley 1794-TB2 Flex I/O Terminal Base Unit, Cage Clamp
The Allen-Bradley 1794-TB2 provides a robust foundation for your Flex I/O system. This terminal base unit accepts a wide range of I/O modules. You can mount it on a panel or a standard DIN rail. The cage clamp design ensures secure and reliable wire connections. This unit simplifies field wiring and module installation.
Product Procurement & Buyer Guide
Procurement managers need a reliable and versatile terminal base. The 1794-TB2 meets these demands with its robust specifications. It supports a maximum supply voltage of 125V DC/AC. The unit handles a continuous current of up to 10 Amps. This makes it suitable for various industrial control applications.
Application engineers value the flexible wiring options. The 1794-TB2 accepts wire sizes from 0.21 to 1.3 mm². This covers common 24 to 16 AWG stranded copper wire. The unit uses a 2-wire screw termination for each point. You must apply a screw torque of 0.56 to 0.79 Nm for optimal connections.

This terminal base unit is UL listed and CSA certified. These certifications guarantee its safety and reliability. The unit operates in temperatures from 0 to 55 degrees Celsius. It can be stored in conditions from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. This durability makes it ideal for demanding factory floors.
The 1794-TB2 features a unique key switch for module alignment. This prevents incorrect module installation and protects your system. The unit includes a female and male FlexBus connector. A cover plug protects the male connector when not in use. A locking tab and module locking latch secure the I/O module firmly.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
First, mount the 1794-TB2 on your chosen surface. Use the provided holes for panel mounting. Alternatively, clip the unit onto a standard DIN rail. Ensure the base is securely fastened before proceeding.

Next, connect your field wiring to the terminal strips. The unit has one row of 16 terminals and one row of 18 terminals. A third row has 2 terminals for power connections. Strip your wires to a length of 3/64-inch insulation.
Insert the stripped wire into the correct cage clamp terminal. Tighten the screw to the specified torque of 5 to 7 pounds on an inch. This ensures a gas-tight connection that resists vibration. Do not overtighten the screws as this can damage the terminal.
Finally, align the I/O module with the key switch on the base. Slide the module down until it locks into place. The locking latch will click, confirming a secure fit. Connect the FlexBus connectors to establish communication with the adapter.
