You must select the correct mode during system configuration for accurate readings.

This module supports a wide range of standard industrial signals. You can configure each channel for voltage inputs like 0 to 10V dc. The unit also handles current signals ranging from 4 to 20 mA. This broad compatibility ensures the module works with most transmitters. This feature reduces the need for additional signal conditioners in your panel.

The 1771-IFE delivers a rapid channel update time of 18 milliseconds for eight channels. This speed is vital for fast-responding processes like flow control. Mechanical Mounting in the Chassis

First, ensure your system power is completely removed before installation. Select an empty slot in any 1771 I/O chassis for the module. The 1771-IFE requires a single slot for its installation. Slide the module firmly into the chassis card guides. Secure it in place by tightening the top and bottom screws.

Correct Wiring and Connector Setup

The module uses a 1771-WG wiring arm for all field connections. This arm allows you to replace the module without disconnecting wires. Install the keying bands between pins 10 and 12 for the lower connector. For the upper connector, place bands between pins 24 and 26. This prevents accidental insertion into the wrong slot in the future.

Initial Configuration and Status Check

After mounting, apply power to the chassis backplane and processor. The module draws a backplane current of 750 milliamperes. Observe the front panel indicator lights for the 1771-IFE startup sequence. A steady green RUN light confirms the module is operating correctly.
